However, Sollecito, who together with his former girlfriend Amanda Knox were acquitted of murder but had their convictions reinstated last week, said Guede should not have been allowed a fast track trial that called no witnesses and saw him given a reduced sentence.
"This is absurd," he said. "Guede should have been on trial with me.
"How can I convince him to speak when he has done all he can to hide the truth"
That's rich coming from him, he seems to have changed his account of where he was and what happened that night a hell of a lot more than Guede. And he'd have been offered the same option to have a fast track trial with less evidence submitted but a reduced sentence, but he chose not to...
Apparently it's a bit of myth Guede was a drug dealer or known criminal - apparently he had no criminal record apart from something in the pipeline about handling stolen goods (a laptop) that he wasn't charged with until he was jailed for this... |

And what spin will they be putting on it? Poor girl falsely accused in Italy, or evil psycho who murdered her flat mate then done everything in her power to evade justice and fool everyone? Should they not wait until the outcome of her appeals and the conviction is confirmed, and they know more before rushing in and making a film about it? |

I was a bit surprised at the Guardian's take on it though, maybe it could be argued that there is not enough physical or forensic evidence to convict them, maybe, but I would have thought things like persistently lying about your alibi, obviously telling lies aimed at deflecting attention away from something that would help incriminate you (and which if you were totally innocent you should have known nothing about), and showing knowledge of the position of the victim when she was killed, before investigators had even found that out should count as some evidence you'd think?
