The occasional "junk" dog food wont do any harm, so dont worry.
What does he (she?) normally have?

He normally has tinned tripe by Butchers, lamb/beef mince with rice, chicken and pasta, tinned food with mixer. Someone recommended mince and rice best thing one of the best meals to give a dog eases off his arthritis.

What did you feed your dog Honey ?

The cats have costco dried cat food because it is as good as the very top brands, and the occasional tub of Sheba just because they like it so much. they have bits of chicken and liver too.

Gretel the kelpie has the same cat food, and fresh meat every day (whatever is going. She doesn't care) and Dopey the "wild" fox has this whenever he comes to ask for it, and it feeds all the wild and recovering hedgehogs too.

Amyrose (our hedgehog that couldn't go back in the wild) is ridiculously spoiled and has a selection of things every day. She likes pork chops best.

Rover the chihuahua is shown what we have in the fridge and chooses what he wants. He likes something different every day but he eats only fresh meat (apart from the occasional chip or hobnob)

Pippin the tiny mongrel,(chihuahua sized) being the junior dog has to put up with whatever Rover is having but less of it because she helps herself to the cat biscuits all day long and she is inclined to be porky.

I think giving them a variety of what they feel like is probably best for them.

I can only have one dog as he been unpredictable with another dog in the house but great outside. How did you adopt a hedgehog ? I will look for a slow cooker seems a great thing to have in the kitchen. Thanks Honey

I am a "Hedgehog carer" Most can be released when they are better, but occasionally they are unsuitable even for the sanctuary at the shelter so they stay for ever.
We just have Amyrose at the moment. (she is blind) She has the run of the house and garden and is very happy and very stinky.

Percy Edwards Dogs were meant to eat raw food. Feed them raw meat and they don't smell so much, they don't poop so much and they live longer.

It must have been the rage for five minutes. I had forgotten (or blocked it)

Andrew have you tried ox heart? You can get a huge one for four pounds. Put in the slowcooker on low for fifteen hours.

Never tried ox heart my budget don't stretch to such cuisine, nor does a slow cooker.

Chicken heart makes good stock for casseroles.

A slowcooker is a big help on a tight budget because you can make the most of cheap cuts. I will have a look-out for one for you when the boot sales start up again. You can buy half a heart, but i really wouldn't bother without the slowcooker.

Mine has been in regular use since 1982.
