Its a six month cut off !
... and the "States" - don't they issue food parcels? No cash for scratchcards, lottery tickets, mobile phones, or flat screen TVs ???
ITK like many is convinced that market economies are some magic solution that arise out of the natural order.
It is !
If you manufacture goods you need customers.
If you charge too much your customers go elsewhere.
If your overheads are too high your profit will be eaten up by them.
It really isn't difficult.
It's only the ones who think you can keep putting your hand in the till - without ever putting anything in - that are living in a pretend world ! |

cherry picking again. I said the USA has always had a mixture of welfare and social security programs both federal and state that have in the past been far more generous than the UK.
the 2 year cut off date was brought in by the rogue Clinton who simply handed the problem over to states. Every states has a different type of welfare set-up. some good and some bad. ( a bit like Thatcher simply handed the problem of homelessness over to local councils)
If you don't know how Capitalism operates then all is lost
I don't make the rules of the Market Economy but when 2 US billionares agree, left wing Soros & right wing Buffet that that the US economy is spinning out of control because of the disparity between the wealth of Americans, and could easily collapse which will effect the entire world.
capitalism, socialism, communism are artificial constructs. They are not the natural order. They all need strict controls and finessing constantly.
ITK like many is convinced that market economies are some magic solution that arise out of the natural order. He seeks easy targets to blame , like 'dolers' for highly complex problems. |

all the Scandanavian countries ......the USA has tons of social security programs both federal and sate.
Yet again, hedda's claims do not stand up to scrutiny.
In Sweden the rate (of dole) reduces after 200 days and reduces yet again after a further 100 days.
During the first 200 days the unemployed will receive 80 percent of his or her normal income during the last 12 months. From day 201-300 this goes down to 70 percent and from day 301-450 the insurance covers 65 percent of the normal income (only available for parents to children under the age of 18). In Sweden tax is paid on unemployment benefits, so the unemployed will get a maximum of about SEK 10,000 per month during the first 100 days (depending on the municipality tax rate). In other currencies this means a maximum of approximately £730, $1,650, or €1,100, each month after tax.
In The USA, the standard time-length of unemployment compensation payment is six months, although extensions to this are possible for certain individuals. Once this six-month time period elapses and payment ceases, an individual who remains unemployed is at risk of falling into poverty, as they no longer have a safety net upon which to rely.

Different situations Hedda,Germany has a strong economy, but it denies all resident turks etc citizenship, which means ethnic Germans do much better.
The other countries you mention have lower populations, aren't crowded in the same way as us,have lower unemployment,so pay out a lot less in real terms.
Hedda always makes these claims - but they don't stand up to scrutiny !
Last time we discussed it I discovered that the "luxurious" benefits were only paid for a short qualifying period (after that they realised you were a doler with no intention of getting work).
He also (conveniently) ignores every other parameter (such as cost of living / tax rates / economy etc)
Balance in all things. Both of you only say these things for fun it makes for great forum reading, and if either of you drops in form I take over,Hedda is now almost back to normal,at which point I will go back to lurking and the odd naff comment |
