Galloway said, "Theresa May should have been on the first train to Bradford trailing officials and reassuring the Muslim community that not only would the perpetrators be punished but that she would ensure that an outrage like this never occurs again. Instead? A stony silence. I have written to the Home Secretary slating her failure, and that of her department, in dealing with this and calling on her to urgently come to grips with it."
He went on: “ 'Britain First' has been given status as a political party and is standing candidates in council and European elections, rather than being proscribed for what it is, a racist, neo-fascist gang of fanatics.
Several extreme Muslim organisations have been proscribed for flimsier reasons. So I am calling on her to consider banning Britain First.
“And the national media has been ominously silent too. Can you imagine what it would have been like if two carloads of Muslim extremists in military uniforms had invaded churches, forced the Quran on people and distributed leaflets that claimed white society was a breeding ground for paedophiles, citing Jimmy Savile and the convictions of Stuart Hall and Max Clifford as proof?
There would have been national outrage, and rightly. But when it happens to Muslims they avert their gaze, pass on the other side."
