Grandpa Harley |
As a sorbet to clear the palate... do we really need to pay to be reminded that most people are cone headed, loud mouthed, ignorant and generally only deserving of extinction? I can be reminded of that while helping Mrs Grandpa Harley with the weekly shop.
'People do the funniest things'... my lily white English Buttocks! It's cheap film/TV...it always was. Post modern? Ironic? Nope, just proof that people WILL give good money for old rope. It has a perverse appeal to the W.C. Fields in mm soul that it's a mortal sin for a fool to be allowed money. Getting them to part with it to watch people being idiots for an indifferent, one note, 'comedian' with a minor talent for mimicry is funny. I'm sure the creators, and Mr Cohen, are laughing all the way to the bank.
The concept was canine excrement in the 50s with Candid Camera, and it's got no less stinking with time. Just because it's popular makes it neither original or good. It simply shows that no one really has the nerve to point up that the Emperor is not only naked, but pretty cold and wrinkly in a bad way. However, it will almost certainly be successful. Crowds are dumb, skittish, dangerous, and, above all, easily led.

Loads of clips from his Channel 4 show on youtube. Search Borat. It was generally very funny.
Thet way that people either reveal their bigoted selves and agree or don't say anything for fear of offending his culture are brilliant.
More milage than Ali G. |
