Actually I've never watched Torchwood so can't comment on this particular RTD project.
Grandpa Harley Last Sunday's was probably a high spot (although I think the Prima Donnas Jack works with need slapping IMO... they'd be more Men In Black sanguine about the stuff you do to keep the world safe)

The 'Fairies' were very Arthur Machen style Nasty...

If you don't like the 'yellow nineties' style of writing, I'd not recommend digging him out, since the style is dated for the modern palate. RTD managed to put the fairies squarely into the nasty and best avoided category there...

And that twist at the end? Stunning stuff. Particularly from the writer who created and wrote the best Sapphire and Steel episodes.
