JK2006 True Honey and in an ideal world that would happen (wish it had happened for me) but unfortunately many people actually believe both the media and the police/justice system. Even Max, who has now seen what happens when false (we assume) accusers scream, still believes others accused are guilty. That next step is hard to take. Nobody wants to believe society has a broken legal system or they are ALL in danger.
honey!oh sugar sugar. If you think it is a witch-hunt you should speak out before your friends are accused, not after!
JK2006 There are many flaws in his piece and Anna points them out brilliantly but we need all the help we can get and how people finally realise the truth is less important than that they do. Acknowledging a friend has been "set up" is a few steps away from spotting that the entire judicial process is broken, and that becomes easier to make. Gambo, Matthew Parris, Max Hastings - even DLT, Freddie Starr, Jim Davidson, Tarbuck and those others who probably condemned me, now know full well that I was an innocent victim and may help stop future innocent people getting condemned. It's less the Celebs that I fear for - I met literally dozens of innocent men in prison - priests, teachers, foster parents, doctors, social workers...
hedda Once your post has been read many out there will be saying "Hastings associates with (vile)perverts"
Jo He's not sticking his neck out very far. He seems to be trying to douse a friend on the pyre (ouch, that looks hot, I wouldn't like that myself) while checking that everything underneath is still glowing nicely.
I can as readily imagine such a vile accusation being made against myself, because some malicious informant wished ill to my reputation, home and family, which is why Lord Bramall’s fate seems so frightening.

None of us doubt the guilt of Jimmy Savile, whose wickedness started all this. The convictions of Rolf Harris, Max Clifford and Gary Glitter seem absolutely proper.

Perhaps he has missed the Anna Raccoon and Moor Larkin blogs about the Savile claims and the related research at Edinburgh University. As for Rolf Harris, I don't believe that process was proper at all. At first I thought he might have done some of it, but am now sure he did none of it. Given the context and specifics. One, possibly two masterminds at work, maybe more. Journalists are supposed to hold the justice system to account but are asking no questions when much that is questionable is right under their noses. Thanks to them, the nation has now been told, without question or challenge, "everybody is fair game".
