Very often people know darned well that claims are false but they enjoy pretending to believe it because they like to see someone they are jealous of have their life ruined.

JK2006 Interestingly the Mail print version is a tiny paragraph buried away of P8 which implies either Dacre thought it not worth splashing or - more likely - they reckon it's a much bigger story worth covering in depth after detailed investigation (like their excellent Pensions spread).
