The comforting thing is that none of this is unprecedented. Records show similar weird winters at various times over the last 150 years. Where I live we tend to get a "good" winter (lots of snow) about once every 15 years. We had several feet in 1979, then nothing much until 1994/5, so I'm guessing we're due another one around 2009/10. Our heaviest snowfalls were always around February/March. Very few white Decembers. |

This is the oddest "winter" in the garden I have ever had though, the dafodills are coming up, last years geraniums are still going strong, next to them ,and I have catkins on a tree, a budhlia in flower (just) and polyanthus flowering.
I like gardening, but I`m not an expert, but that`s all four seasons at once in one garden surely.
I`m not a strong believer in the global warming issue, I personally believe the planet has rotated on it`s access slightly which has affected the seasons globally by about six weeks. |

It has just started to snow here, but very fine.
In fact I have just looked out the window again and it is stopping already.
So much for that.
Maybe tomorrow. |

Freezing here and snow all night - a tiny bit left (on my bird table) in the centre of London. As a result (blanket of silence) I slept like a log. |
