JK2006 No; if God was having a laugh he'd call the make of the fridge freezer that started the fire HOTPOINT.
JK2006 The BBC report tonight; it's as appalling as the London fire with almost the same amount of deaths. Once more it is hard not to cry watching the survivors mourn their loved ones.
JK2006 The more we hear of the Portuguese tragedy the more awful it seems and shares several aspects of the London disaster - fire spreading much faster than normal, cutting down people who normally should have escaped, as in the tower block. It should not consume in minutes; it should take longer. But we cannot blame cladding or people in Portugal which might be a lesson for us as we try to arrest and convict civil servants. Just an odd co-incidence? Possibly; but appalling none the less.
JK2006 Terrible news from Portugal - where, again, fire spreads so fast that dozens are killed and cannot escape.
