Very true, JK.

david I have quite a few tattoos- both my upper arms more or less covered, one on each side of my neck and one on each calf.

I started getting them about 20 years ago in my 30s, living in Budapest. Someone said to me 'but they are so permanent. How do you know you won't change your mind?' For me the question made no sense, as I knew I wanted them, and thought if I didn't know then what I wanted, then would I ever?

I love the tattoo on my right arm. I took the flamenco dancer from the cover of Torment and Toreros by Marc Almond's band Marc & The Mambas (see link below for the pic) minus the background, put three roses around her and a sketchy image of a sailor above the roses. Its a collage that I love.

I was at a work conference a couple of weeks after getting them and, after getting drunk, showed my arm to my UK bosses and the unanimous reaction was 'that's beautiful!'

I still love it. Yes, it's faded a bit, but you know what, you can get them freshened up, and that's what I'm doing in a few weeks' time.

My sister has a few and they trashy ones and I dread to what they look like in 40 years.

It's funny seeing blokes in their 60s with their tops off showing of their ancient drawings.

Is there an un-trashy type?
