Well I suppose there could be obvious behavioural clues too. But yes, your point is well made.
The answer to your question is that it's another part of the effort to redefine criminal culpability. The illegality isn't derived from the actions of an individual that fall within the prohibitions of a published law. It's derived from the (I was going to write protagonist, but of course the accused may not be that...) accused person's membership of a demographic group, first and foremost white, heterosexually active men. Other risk factors are non-leftwing views (Bill Cosby), sometimes homosexuality where there is a lingering antigay agenda (Cliff, JK), and catching investigators or accusers out lying or indulging in corrupt practice (DLT, Rolf). |

Yes and in the UK police advised false accusers to adapt their stories to fit the law - example - consensual sex with a 16 year old should be rewritten as consensual with a 15 year old - who could not consent (thus prison for 7 years; not easy to prove someone was 20 minutes older than stated). The Yank police (or media - brighter and better story) will soon work out how to bypass their statute of limitations - as happened to Cosby. A good story provokes not only further false claims but some cunning criminals too. |

Yes JK but if it happened in 1982 it was still consensual and over 16 it looks like it's just a shit stir it's a non story |

In the good old days (17 years ago) it was 27 further false allegations after publicity (ask Matthew Kelly, John Leslie and others). But many more after Savile etc. These days - different times, different country, different laws (and statutes of limitations) - who knows? Michael Jackson? Bill Cosby? Dozens I reckon, or hundreds. Someone will do a thesis comparing pages of publicity multiplied by social media equals how many loonies. |
