hedda some decades ago I knew a SA Prince (from the No 1 wife of the King so he was important). Lovely man, very generous (Arabs usually are) with a sensational flat in Mayfair and an amazing house in Oxford.

He was funding a band I managed (was "pals" with the singer) so lent me an Aston Martin for 2 years so I looked 'successful'.

But then the many scandals began happening in London..mainly shoplifting..veiled ladies in limos nicking stuff at Harrods and so on.

So the King ordered all the wayward princes back to Saudi to work as he said.."now we are getting serious" and my pal was one who was horrified he would have to be a Minister for something incredibly boring.

He died of a heroin overdose in Oxford before he coiuld leave..covered up by the Home Office as a heart attack.

Since then the Saudis...master manipulators..have dominated the ME (aided by their good pals..the Israelis)

Donald Trump has done a deal with SA to drive up oil prices (hence Iran etc)

## 2 large men turned up one day and said 'we're here for the car'. I handed them the keys and returned to my little yellow Mini.
Barney Tonight there, women can drive legally for the first time.

SA's inclusion in the UN Human Rights arena has been condemned.

Improvements have been slow though. The country is new - oil only since 1938.

Very slowly, Mayfair prices reflect the UK/SA love affair.

During the early 1900's - it was taken over from the Ottomans and many tribes.

Not long until it becomes a major player here.

Sainsbury's is owned mostly by a neighbour, football clubs too - and the Savoy Hotel.
