JK2006 I remember my brilliant wheeze (given to me by my superb English teacher who I've recently been back in touch with, thanks to this Forum - he and his wife in their Nineties). He told me to choose a less well known writer to study as it would be a pleasant surprise to the examiners, after dozens of Dickens and Shakespeare essays. I chose Thomas Love Peacock - and won a scholarship!
