JK2006 Well it will be interesting to see how it holds up; I shall certainly keep watching but whilst I loved the first couple I've liked subsequent ones less and really hated this one (Alan Cummings annoys me at the best of times). I have no opinion on "flirting" - a trivial issue. I'm perfectly happy with gender changes. But she is starting to annoy with her Northern-ness and silly lines. And total lack of confidence.
steveimp As for ratings - the % share has held up well. The last 2 weeks having the show on early has also dented. Still getting over 7m viewers a week, which isn't bad at all.
steveimp I loved it!

And no the Doctor isn't supposed to be flirtatious - as has been posted above, that was a 'modern' slant on the tale.

Fact is, The Doctor is supposed to be MALE. The whole story line is about him being a MALE who has these flirtatious relationships with a series of FEMALEs. He's basically supposed to be a sort of soft core Casanova.

And now they've RUINED IT!

As an old fan of the original Dr Who since the 60s, I can say he was not supposed to be flirtatious. That was something added when it was re-invented (and ruined) by RTD etc. One of it's strengths was that it was outside of the normal 'relationships' infected TV. The Doctor is not human, so doesn't follow the human patterns. And, yes, he always was supposed to be male. It's been changed to suit the BBC PC multi gender / multi ethnic / multi everything brigade.

The latest reports claim that, following a serious dip in ratings (particularly in the USA), Jodie Whittaker is leaving the role.

As The Doctor is supposed to only have 13 lives, he actually ran out of them last serious. What they could have done, considering that The Doctor has no known name, another Time Lord could have inherited the Tardis and started a new run with a new character also called 'The Doctor'.
