somewhat mirrored by Australian police with notorious unsolved murders... in the 1970s a recently arrived British academic was thrown into a river in Adelaide where he drowned and in Sydney over the last 30 years...27 gay men have been murdered at gay "beats" ...all rumoured to have been committed by off duty police.
## now changed seeing most police forces have set out to recruit a wide range of ethnic officers.
The other great problem with British police forces...a love of nicking high profile perps whether they be pop stars, MPs, Lords and the very rich in an obvious case of class hatred.
From the Stones to Jeremy Thorpe (and Lord Montague before) to Rolf Harris (and even JK) the UK police contrary to ridiculous claims of elite cover-ups love to collar a good sleb.

Not just in the UK. Irish police were accused of homophobia in their investigations into the still unsolved 1982 murder of RTE costume designer Charles Self. It was claimed that some police were more interested in building up a database on the homosexual community (homosexual acts were illegal in the ROI until 1993) than solving the murder.
19 years ago - British Police institutionally homophobic. I experienced this first hand. Has anything changed? Well, I would say Surrey Police are institutionally incompetent if not corrupt.
