Mart Actually we did that,( we already had one which somebody sent us) and we gave her the little stuffed doggy toy called "Baby", which she was delicately carrying around in her mouth.

I fear this has made the situation worse as "Baby" obviously looks... errrm, still born.

Ok, I`ve given it her back, and there is a marked improvement, nice one Freud old bean.

Barbara Woodhouse is so missed.
JK2006 Jonathan FREUD King suggestion - buy some small stuffed toy dogs of similar breed and let her have them in her basket.
Mart I correctly diagnosed her with a phantom pregnancy which the vet has confirmed.
What a strange and sad affliction.
She spends all day and night whimpering and scratching under the sofa or anything she can find looking for non existant puppies.
I`ve heard about this condition but never witnessed it.
She is inconsolable and refuses to walk.
