Disgraceful; it should be police and CPS forking out this million. Lawyers are generally finding it very difficult to defend these ludicrous and unfair false allegations. I was lucky, this time, to find a brilliant team. But we shouldn't be punishing law firms for doing their best in impossible situations. Change the law; correct police incompetence and corruption; radically improve the CPS - don't blame the poor old lawyers trying to prove peoples' innocence.

Interesting turn describing lawyers as "poor" either financially or otherwise. They can only be successfully sued if regardless of the evidence they have been legally negligent in practice/counsel. The evidential weight is irrelevant.
'M' They should also be able to sniff out a rat and to track down that rat.
Trouble is counsel are frightened of upsetting judges.
Blue Boy You may be right that “the system that needs changing and police and CPS incompetence and corruption that often causes miscarriages of justice”
HOWEVER
Lawyers are meant to be trained, qualified specialists who know the system and can work within the constraints set by the system and get the best result for their clients.
IF
A particular law firm fails to do that and the get successfully sued then it’s because of their incompetence and failures not that of the system

If evidence is not needed for a conviction, you are pretty hard pushed to prove that something did not happen.
