It was made perfectly clear during the referendum campaign that a vote to leave the eu was a vote to leave the customs union...all major players are on video making major speeches to that effect....
It would be great to see examples of these videos, if you have them. According to fullfact.org "The customs union was rarely mentioned by Leave campaigners before the referendum. There were generally calls for the UK to have an independent trade policy, though messages about specific trading arrangements weren’t always consistent." (What was promised about the customs union before the referendum?)
Sorry Jo for my delayed reply, spent this morning in a jungle, now am in an airport on my way to Australia...on a small phone...so cannot easily post it myself....
...I doubt the places you looked for such info would be neutral and truthful enough to show it..but I believe leaveeu took videos of many of the main players,on TV saying about the single market and customs union....nick Clegg was even shown a segment a while back on a newsnight type interview...he made a complete fool, of himself.and lost his seat soon after....
A simple Google video search of leaveeu single market..this will easily find it for you...if that fails I'll get my tablet out of my case, and search and post it....in fact I think I have posted similar on here a while ago..but the search on here is not easy to get a result with...
Still early for you, hope your day goes well. |

Absolutely no political bias there Jo
It was made perfectly clear during the referendum campaign that a vote to leave the eu was a vote to leave the customs union...all major players are on video making major speeches to that effect...if your international trade policy is dictated to you by the eu then I would tend to agree with Madleys point...he may not be the brightest political brain on the planet...but it does boil down to being controlled by the eu...and is a silly compromise that will loose votes for anyone who pushes it...current polls back that up....
...Norway etc are not full eu members...but they are controlled by them...to be honest in my assessment not a good example...expected from expats who believe their own tall stories...but a genuine remainer should be horrified at such a compromise... |
