robbiex	Steve Levine hit the nail on the head this morning on bbc breakfast. We need to take the competition more seriously, get our best writers involved, and for them to send their A list hits, not their b-list hits like Pete Waterman has done (send his b hits). In the sixties Bill Martin and Phil Coulter wrote both "Puppet on a string" and "Boom bang a bang".
JK2006	Celine Dion didn't do badly either.
Barney	This programme remains highly popular - and has been, for many years, one of the most watched in Europe. Viewing figures are in the region of 200 million (sometimes more) - on a par with the Champions League Final. ABBA were the most successful participant - following their win in 1974 - 45 years ago!
JK2006	Thank God a topic other than Brexit is dominating today (and you'll see the thread over on the Tipsheet forum has had thousands of visits) - but a couple of comments here before you jump over there; commentators asking "why the UK do so badly?" are coming up with the same old shit ("nobody ever votes for the UK") they used during the 15 years before I took over in 1995. We were then Top Ten with Love City Groove and Gina G (I thought my best possible entry) and we won in 1997 and came second in 1998. It's easy. Find a real hit song and get a really good performer. Simples!!!
