JK2006 I love onions but prefer banana shallots and I boil them whole - then the centres are really delicious and still slightly crunchy.
robbiex I like a red onion, which is what is implied here. They are an astringent and good for fighting disease. They give a salad a bit of a kick and are a relatively cheap veg, so i would recommend them.

I hope her taste in food is better than her taste in men!
honey!oh sugar sugar. Sarah Vine thinks nobody likes onions in salad,and she hates salad but eats it anyway.

Why? If you are trying to lose weight the last thing you need is an oily pre-packed salad.
She might as well have a pork pie!

I like my onions soaked in vinegar for a while.
