Barney Yes Hedda - self certification/regulation is dangerous.

Like monopolies, or virtual ones.

Oil companies in the US had be broken up.

Rockefeller owned 90% of them, at one point - like Carnegie ran steel.

Boeing is set for a big change.

Complacency has won, and the Democrats will make sure...

hedda There's nothing like self-regulation and "cutting red-tape" to put those nosy interring Socialists in their place when they want to control every aspect of life and make it hard for job creating free marketeers to do the real work.

Alleged "conservative" governments both Federal and Sate in Oz have allowed "self-regulation" to flourish and now 100s of high-rise buildings in Australia are found to have flammable cladding similar to the Grenfell fire building as 3 high rise apartment blocks in Sydney- one about 20 stories and brand new, have to be evacuated as deadly cracks appear with what seems like sub-standard cement and even dodgy land being used that was once swampy & not being filled correctly.

and then there's Brexit !!
Barney Size may be the real problem.

Boeing also build satellites, light railway vehicles and other large technological items.

With a €100+ billion turnover, and the largest man-made building ever - of c100 acres. And a workforce of about 160,000.

Like the Rockefeller oil empire - a goverment ordered breakup seems inevitable.

Barney Massive company, and over 100 years old.

Excellent safety record - so much that they were allowed to self-certify their new Max aircraft.

After, two major crashes - the plane is grounded by the Federal Aviation Administration, who (in hindsight) should have scrutinised and tested the aircraft.

Orders are being cancelled, production dramatically slowed and over $5 billion put aside to cover initial losses.

Boeing's financial future remains precarious - its reputation has been seriously affected...
