Barney But why is an Irish passport so relevant or important/different

UK passports are more powerful - in terms of consulates, embassies, help etc

My successful lawyer friend doesn't know where she was born. Her mother may have been Jamaican, her dad from Swansea perhaps.

Should she return to a place she has never heard of?

hedda Ireland that is.

Thank you so much my late Irish Grandmother even though you were a stern old misery guts ( I mean that in a caring and sharing way ).

You enabled me to get Irish citizenship and an Irish passport. I am forever grateful.

What a funny old place the UK really is. They elect governments as they just have with a minority of votes getting a majority of seats.

You only really need one as Australia has had for many years now....governments with perhaps at the most 4 more seats. Keeps them right on their toes and they don;t stray too far especially with Compulsory Preferential Proportional Voting a 94% turnout produces governments that a majority want (not that the majority is always right)

And a 3 year election cycle means they do all their dirty work the first year..coast along for the second and spend the third courting the masses with handouts.

5 years is so fucking long !!

Queensland was run this way for decades with a gerrymandered system as the UK has.It was riddled with corruption from the top downwards.

Enjoy Brexit.
