md I suspect that many of the estimated 92% currently backing the lockdown have been experiencing it as a regular holiday, not a period of enforced confinement that comes with a hidden price tag. Wait until the weather starts to warm up and the frustrations of being cooped up for too long start to kick in.

Yes, it has to be watched carefully, but then again, there are so many idiots who think they're free riders. That's what makes me despair. Democracy is a system designed for intelligent and self-disciplined people. It's not designed for people who think they should be able to do what they like regardless of everyone else. How do you deal with those people at a time like this? 'Don't go to parks' - so they all go to parks. 'Don't socialise' - so they socialise. I'm not sure how to deal with those idiots except via the police. I mean, a course in civic virtue will take a bit longer than we have...
