Letter to the critics of "Corona Questioners"
Dear all,
What is interesting about endlessly quoting bbc news or other stats? This is description not analysis; max essay grade C-...Whether you agree or not it is the ability to reason and argue - I submit - that makes any post worth the effort of tapping at.
It reminds me of the main and fundamental difference between scientists and the religiously dogmatic.
Scientists are always changing their minds and questioning, whereas it matters not what information - be it helio-centrism or DNA - is presented to a religious zealot they will never shift an inch. Why? Because they mistake emotional responses for reasoning.
I am aware that those of us questioning the sanity and reasons behind the way covid-19 is reported and responded to can also be accused of being like the religious zealot.
But that is incorrect for the following reasons:
If we see this virus start to kill a majority of people - or even a significant minority - we will concede our error. This is because if you read carefully we are focused on the gaps between data and the stories not being told and why.
If these gaps fill with corpses we will have nowhere to hide, even if we wanted to. We would change our position.
But if the virus fizzles out over next couple months the herd-minded news-swallowers will take all the credit even while the economy burns and lives are ruined.
This is because you do not want to see the gaps between data - the news not being written - because like a religious zealot you relish the comfort certainty brings to the mind; no more so than in uncertain times.
In other words, our theories are testable and fallible, while your media-constructed belief systems are not.
Yours sincerely
Wyot
PS Clearly if I believe the above there was no point writing it; but it felt good...and there is f-all else to do currently...
