For the first time, Ryanair will lose £100 million in the quarter to June 2021 - and it plans to mothball 99% of aircraft, for some months.
In addition, it's significantly reduced staffing levels - whilst negotiating reductions, with Boeing, on order numbers. Ticket refunds have also been delayed.
Strong action by an airline with a strong balance sheet - including liquidity and reserves available to combat the downturn in the aviation industry.
Unfairly - and seemingly, illegally - weaker European airlines (without the resources to fight the difficulties) are resorting to hoovering up state aid, from a variety of countries.
Lufthansa, KLM, Air France, SAS and others are - by accepting this assistance - gaining an unfair advantage over their stronger competitors. Such as Ryanair - and EasyJet.
Propping up measures will soon amount to over £30 billion - with nothing whatsoever for the economically viable airlines. And perhaps, the biggest example is corporate nepotism in aviation history.
Ryanair are about to commence legal action in the European courts - for compensation in respect of the aid.
As it flaunts a plethora of fairplay agreements, regulations and legislations.
Good luck to them!
Why should successful trailblazers be disadvantaged for their success?
