Quite an extraordinary claim!
If true (which it clearly isn't) - one would have to question the advice given by thousands of worldwide medical and scientific experts.
And also ourselves. Were we wrong to stay at home?

Why is it clearly not true Barney? Where is your evidence, what is your reasoning?
Yes, staying at home may have served no point. But where is your evidence to indicate otherwise other than what you have heard? I may be wrong; there may be some, and there is a glaring intelligent rebuttal to what I posted which goes something like:
"Wyot stop trying to have it both ways you knob.... You criticise others for relying on data that loosely correlates something, then do it yourself. That the R infection rate has not decreased due to lock down does not in itself prove that other factors weren't relevant, and it could have gone up if we did not do this on a precautionary basis. There are a lot of unknown unknowns in a situation like this..."
A plea to intelligent but silent perusers of this site - please come forward, post. It matters not if we all disagree.
I agree with JK on this and Starlings; but have disagreed on many other things.... |

Additionally, this raises questions for thinkers...
The lockdown from latest NHS figures has had no effect on the "R" re-infection rate. None.
The reduction came earlier, particularly with advice to wash hands regularly and be sensible. If vulnerable, consider staying in.
We are now being warned of the worst economic downturn in history because of this lockdown.
Other countries had no lockdown, and did much better than us.
This was all unecessary and a terrible price is being paid, and will be paid.

Yes Blue Boy the vast majority would indeed have had the trivial (to most of them) virus spread, like Flu did. |
