It's ridiculous closing shops whilst supermarkets are open

Ridiculous - why?

Supermarkets provide over 95% of our food.

If you're going to get then you're going to get the virus.

We should of just carried on as normal.

We can queue outside supermarkets and walk past people as we get in the stores. Yet we couldn't get a coffee to takeaway.

I only see a few people obeying the 2 metre rule anyway... most people are doing their own thing.

There's so much conflicting information and we still don't know if the masks actually work. Why do people believe everything on the news?
wjlmarsh I agree from the evidence with the various doctors who have written here that Covid 19 is vicious, and is most likely on the level with the worst flu epidemics or more so in the last decades. I have been surprised. BJ certainly illitrates how nasty it can be. Pronce Charles seemed to have recovered in next to no time.

I agree with JK overall things have blown out of all proportion and now at this stage difficult for countries to change direction and admit lockdown did not work for the epicenter of the disease. And it is possible that in UK, France, Italy.... the virus' impact has done it worst and it is time to get everything back and up and running. Lockdown did not prevent the terrible spread. It failed. Ok one still must try or consider the options.

Epicenter seems to be consistence eith flu in general. Begins in the winter and starts where the Covid 19 developed it's spread like wild fire. Then out from there(read up on general flu spreading) .

Wuhan is noted by all and the media as the origin, which it could be. But what seems to be known is there is highly developed lab in Wuhan that first detected Covid, so at this stage better to say first detected would be more accurate with the known facts to date unless one is prepared to believe in an unreliable witess. The spread in Eurpoe must raise the question did it start in France or Italy the main countries to receive the full onslaught initially are all centered around France. Germany seemed to have missed the flow but Sweden got a full dose. But geographically it is the countries centered around France.
It is not fair to question the UK government reaction initially as these things are "a hard call". And Dr Doom in all fairness to him was giving a "worst case" senario. Maybe other experts could of examined his conclusions in order to check if a consenus "objectively" could agree the possibility of the worst case or if the figures should of been higher or lower.

I think in all these things when mishandled or at a later time to admit the action did not work as hoped (does not equal wrong to try) then ideally it would help to have objective governments and experts.
The media could help by raising the questions. Governmetn could help by putting one expert against another and viewing known facts.

Mishandled agree JK the media regrettably just want a great story, but mishamdling includes many others not just the media.

I now realise a lot is known and can be tested amazingly and in volume re thses virus. At the same time (not admitted) much remains unknown as well.

Thus I feel we as a people have now many more questions than answers.

I can not personally wait until lockdown is lifted. (I am been unfair as I am at the otherside of Covid 19 but the WHO are playing it safe telling me I cannot be smug as I may well be able to be reinfected.)
JK2006 Reasons reasons reasons - there is one clear reason; CoronaVirus is nowhere near as dangerous as Media have inflated. For nearly every country in the world - trivial. How different countries deal with it has a lot to do with how many infected then die but only 4 countries in the world have had that problem.
Dr Feeloff Greece is a country made up of thousands of islands to which it is easy to block ferries and flights. Germany did have a lockdown put in place exactly like ours the day before, combined with widespread testing and a far greater number of ICUs.
