Like Honey I am just hoping that people cleverer than me have got this all worked out...
haven't even divorced themselves fully from the EU yet.
I truly hope it all goes well.
Most countries deal fairly with each other anf want the best. The Australian China and Japan trade deals have been brilliantly successful for all involved.
The US? now they are really tough and always want the upper hand. It's within their nature.

May well be The Deal of The Century.
Come back in 5 years (minimum) when the details have been thrashed out and concluded.
Do people honestly think these deals are concluded on a handshake?
Australia is so intertwined with Japan on trade (likewise Chine, India ..and the EU) but it took at least 20 years after the UK entered the Common Market for it to all fall into place.

Yes, it seems odd doesn't it? I am trying to hope that they know something we don't and it will all be ok.

The deal is expected to add 0.07% of GDP in the "long run". Government economists have predicted a 5% loss of GDP from leaving the EU customs union and single market.
We'd better set up a few more trade deals; next stop Latvia?
I'm no economist, but on a simple minded level what gets into a Country to do this to themselves? We must be collectively "sick" on some level....
