See, to me, the EU is inherently racist, and I don't know why anyone would want to deliberately exclude (mostly black) countries from the benefits.
Not that I especially wanted to leave, and I imagined some sort of civilised twenty year change over, not some desperate shock haired wally trying to come up with a plan in the last five minutes.
Anyone that would let people drown, or send them back, will not be persuaded otherwise, no matter if we are in, out or upside down.

This silly trivial change in our relationship with Europe has been, like Covid19, exaggerated by media as a great story. The reality is that it will make no real difference to most people (like Covid). I've been to Norway and Switzerland. Both exist fine, just different. The problem is - and it's huge - the change over. A nightmare for no reason. "Take back our country"? Bollocks. But needing to adjust will be truly disturbing.
Boris was quite right, at the start, to write two articles, one for, one against Brexit. It doesn't matter.
I liken it to "should we change over which side of the road we drive on?"
There are good reasons and disadvantages but basically the change makes it "Not Worth It".
My main reason for being against Brexit is that it reflects a nasty racist streak in the British. We don't like foreigners (why not?). We don't want to waste our precious tax monies saving lives for people who are not British. Children dying in the ocean? "Let them drown" is the true story behind Brexit.
Not In Our BackYard.
Humanity needs us to be in Europe. Indeed, humanity needs us to belong to the world.
British citizens like me should be proud to be British which means kindness and decency to others, be they black or Asian, gay or straight, Catholic or Islamic, rich or poor.
Brexit implies we reject that. A very nasty isolationist attitude. |
