JK2006 It struck me that the incredible discoveries (sometimes by tiny companies) of vaccines for Covid19 means it was, surely, less complex and nasty as media painted. No Ebola vaccine yet. No HIV, common cold etc. But this piece seems to imply the reason was because, by inflating the dangers, media actually provoked billions of investment into finding vaccines. Doesn't change the reality but at least partly justifies the media inflation. I fear the negatives inspired by it (and by people believing it) are far worse than any benefits - but it is at least worth hearing.
