and running away from the scene, which is something he now realises

I am not saying it does make sense. The police were right to be suspicious and it should be thoroughly investigated.
But we don't need to know when people are just questioned, because it leaves people under suspicion for ever.
And we shouldn't need the newspapers and family of the deceased to drive the investigation.

I think they had another appeal for information a few weeks ago, so maybe someone has given new information?
I see nobody has been charged though, and if it goes no further, the only fifty year old who was there will be under suspicion for ever more.
