Yes thank goodness for Edward Jenner and down with all the bloody nonsense spread over the internet re the vaccines. I had shingles a couple of years back and concur Hedda that it is hideous. The nerve endings on my chest were on fire; I couldn't wear clothes over my top for a few days it was that painful. It is very unlikely that you will get shingles twice: but not impossible. I would advise anyone who hasn't had that jab to get it if you can. Very rarely some poor sods get post herpatic neuralgia post shingles - and never get rid of it - just have to try and manage the pain.
