Now everything is put on hold whilst the Government appeals?
What can their case be? It's quite fair to jail people forever for no reason. Who cares if there are no courses?
This really is Alice In Wonderland.
But thinking of it, no different from permission to jail innocent suspects for months for no reason. |

Good feature on this subject on Newsnight, last night JK (still available online).
Of course, this ridiculous law (where people were given a "life" sentence until they had completed courses that were NOT available - ofset against tarriffs often as low as 15 months) was always a "media" headline for people like John Reid.
Instant headline - absolutely no result ! |

mind you Reality Check over on the TS board, who clearly works for a tabloid, will say this is a sensible way to conduct the judicial system - give indeterminate sentences, refuse the courses they need to get released and Voila! You can keep everyone locked up for ever. |

Amazingly it has agreed that forcing offenders to do courses before considering them for parole and then not providing the courses is unfair!
WOW! Common sense at last.
How amazing that we have a Government which didn't believe that was so in the first place. |
