I could have sworn he was already dead. I wonder who I mixed him up with.

His book about his alcoholism inspired such a lot of people to get help, and changed the way the illness was viewed.

Saint died this year too Honey?

He was a true great and I admire how he dealt with his alcoholism without whinging and making a constant thing about it...

He was always pretty fat post football, even forgetting his dedication to zen meditation....

Oh I could never mix him up with Ian St John, who was my absolute hero as a child.

I think I must have muddled him with Jimmy Hill, who is apparently dead.

Medication - I suspect - not meditation. But I loved Saint & Greavsie and already by then he was inflating and drinking.

It was a great show, the duo had great charisma and personalities.

Yes you are correct Honey. I bought the book for my father.

Greaves wrote chapter on how he would go through rubbish bags or bins to find bottles of booze to get the last drops out off the bottles.

My dad hated it that I didn't follow his footsteps in football. I also hated playing it at school, despite I could run up and down midfield without being tackled.

I could never kick a ball for a goal and my passing always turned to chips some reason.

I loved it when my sports kit was left at home.

I did like running until I was told that I was selected and "You know must do it for school team". I responded "What has the school ever done to me ?"

I was glad to be deselected from the sports events.

Sandy Medication yes. Greaves stopped drinking totally and suddenly in 1978, seven years before the TV show commenced. Tomorrow's papers will recount the story.
