Honey I think the writer may have contracted upyourselfitis.
PaulB In the 60s and 70s I lived Dr Who. It lost the plot in the 80s but looked like it could be saved in the 90s by Paul McGann but wasn't.
In my opinion, while Rusell T Davies did bring more followers to the show, he did not respect or understand the original concept. He rewrote the unreality behind it and paved the way for it's sad demise.

I would think that the whole show is on the verge of a Marvel universe type renaissance.
