He was already popular before that. He was the mayor for ever, for goodness sake. As for the election, when the opposition is accused of racism, it is bound to give you a boost. |

I'm sure there was an element of that but the shameless portrayal of Corbyn by the mainstream media was probably as powerful a factor. |
