Jo - I've got rather set in my ways after 77 years so tend to know exactly which hotels (and even which rooms) I like. Also, looking at the swimming, much seems to be in the very pool I go to every day in Munich so I wouldn't be able to swim there which would have ruined my stay. I had a great time there last year; they had only just opened up again after two years and the staff were delighted to see the few of us there; swimming away, then chatting. I first went there the year after it opened for the World's Fair (sometime in the 70s). Like all things German/Bavarian it's been kept spotless and clean and is a joy to swim in for hour after hour. |

Oh Mr King, you need to try this one. I know it looks a bit strange but since I discovered this tea the Earl Grey has been going mouldy at the back of the cupboard.

Hotels are highly amused by me. Ditto tea (Earl Grey) - in fact about to have a cup now (with Jaffa Cakes called PAM here). |

I always find hotels 'deals' who do breakfast included a rip off in the price. You can get the same breakfast in any town if you're willing to get up early and go for a stroll.
It's funny some 3 star hotels turn out to be 4 and some 4 star hotels can be a 3 star.
When I go abroad or staycations hotels are for sleeping in. |

I've just done an exploratory search on booking.com for 5 and 4 star hotels with breakfast less than 1 km from the centre, 4 nights checking in on Sunday and out on Thursday, and there do seem to be less expensive options available, e.g. Hotel Concorde or Hotel Torbräu, both 4 star.
