And?
I haven't argued that the US or Putin are "worse". That doesn't interest me.
What I find troubling is the growing inability of people to understand that people can hold two positions on a single subject that don't contradict one another.
So -
The West provoked Putin AND Putin is wrong somehow = Putin apologist!
We over reacted to Covid causing harm with ineffective measures AND Covid can be dangerous to some we must do what we reasonably can = anti vax callous conspiracy theorist!
People can do terrible things to one another AND people should be treated with respect in the CJS = paedophile defender!
So few people listen or hear anymore.
We may as well just yell: "blahblahblah" at one another sometimes.
I probably spend too much time on social media - because the world does at times seem such a silly, noisy place now... |

This piece would be balanced if it also castigated Putin for invading a sovereign country and killing people.
Why do we so rarely see a grown up commentary that acknowledges Western provocation via territorial expansion since the fall of the Berlin Wall AND condemnation of Putin. Why is this so difficult?
Instead, it has to be either someone is The Goodie and another The Baddie; like a John Wayne Western, or superhero cartoon.
The real story is that we are risking nuclear conflict because the majority of people think like infants.
Recheck the last line: "sanctions imposed on Russia following its ILLEGAL INVASION of Ukraine in February."
