Michael Joking aside, I'm still flabbergasted at how greedy banks can be. This whole thing is not a little accident that happened out of the blue. It's a systematic attempt to beat the system using other people's money. It's totally childish in many ways, almost as naive as the pyramid schemes that are illegal in most countries.

Should the government bail these people out or bring them to court? I'd bring them to court whether they are bailed out or not.
Southern Pebble Interesting, I think you're on to something here, let's take other examples:

Barings Bank: Baring meaning "scarcely or just sufficient" (as in "the bare necessities of life"). Scarcely sufficient, just about somes it up doesn't it?

Laker Airways: Laker meaning a fish found in lakes or caught in a lake; a small fish in a large pond. The small fish was eaten by the sharks.

Going back to Barings, were you aware that Nick Leeson's father was named Lee? When they had to arrest someone it was spelled out for them, "Nick Lee's Son".
veritas Well I don't think I'd ever put my money into something called Northern Rock. Names say a lot.

Can't agree with your view on Scotland as my dad was there..although now I think about it-most of his family were batty.
JK2006 Good point ITK; I shall remove my tongue from my cheek.

The word Northern.

Anything north of Watford is a disaster (especially Scotland).

Would that include, say, Northern Songs, JK ?
