I've just read the Daily Mail article. It makes you wonder why prosecution barristers take cases like that. Will they do anything for money or are they employed by the CPS and therefore have no choice? Why did the CPS pursue her?

They are employed by the CPS Jo - so salaried. Money was not the corrupting factor; the politicised pressure that "the victim will be believed" was.

We simply can't have a balanced justice system which seeks truth while such dogma remains defining. It was introduced for good reasons: I am sure far too many genuine victims in the past endured a hostile justice system.

But to replace one acute bias with another, does nothing but harm to the innocent and genuine victims alike. We need a recalibration of the system following a grown up public awareness campaign and debate.

Interesting day in Birmingham at the F.A.C.T autumn conference; it’s been around for 22 years and was one of the very first JK supporters in the days when very few dared support convicted criminals - let alone innocent ones.
Rebecca Whitehurst gave one of the most brilliant speeches I’ve heard in ages; as a perfectly normal and I suspect excellent teacher, she became the victim of false allegations and had 3 years of torment before being acquitted a few months ago.
Her case should never have come to court, as the Judge said. But her shocking, appalling suffering was a perfect example of how out-of-control the system has become.
We have to do something about it, as the hundreds of victims of this vile crime can attest.
Please donate to this very worthy charitable concern.

JK2006 It really was a great afternoon and she comes out as a terrific lady, I thought.
