What a wonderful face Tim Henman's Dad has! |

Watching the Davis Cup with UK playing Croatia, I realise one of the reasons I find those tall Croatian players so good (I think Ancic is great too, as well as Goran).
This new guy Cilic is tall (6'5) and looks quite wonderful serving and playing.
There's something hugely attractive visually about a tall tennis player. |

With you all the way Anthony.
I was a massive IVAN LENDL fan after interviewing him when he was a Wimbledon Junior champ and thought he was a very nice guy and a brilliant player.
When he retired I became a GORAN IVANESEVIC fan so I was rooting for him, not Tim, in 2001 and his win at Wimbledon that year was one of the few high spots of the year for me - and, indeed, of any sporting fan's life. Goran's delight at having conquered all - as a wild card - was fabulous and passionate and, for me, everything tennis should be about.
Since Goran, no real male or female favourites. |

Of course, the Tiger Tim epithet given to Henman by the media was laughably unsuitable, and left him exposed to ridicule by his detractors, but that wasn't his invention. Although, I recall he was thrown out of Junior Wimbledon for bad behaviour so it is to his credit that he was able to learn from that and become the controlled individual that he was.
I get the impression that many people will see Henman as an under-achiever, but I believe he was a massive over-achiever. He didn't have the ability of a Sampras or Agassi and probably had no right to reach number 4 in the world and get as close as he did to winning Wimbledon. The success that he had is a tribute to his dedication and self-belief. |
