I found the Young Ones amusing but not hilarious. However I was a bit of a fan of Nine Below Zero in the day. So I was happy when they appeared on a Young Ones episode.
I tried 2 epidodes on the BBC Iplayer. I just found it embarrassing and I did cringe.
The only sitcom I have enjoyed recently was Peep Show but the last episode was just dull and they were trying to hard.
I was sent some old US sitcoms from a friend.
Gilligan's Island was OK but it was clearly propaganda. The TV movies which I have on bootleg are boring and not even amusing.
I don't like Monty Python but their spoken word records are great IMHO.
People say sitcoms are dead due to wokeness. However looking back a lot of them were shit before cancel culture. Just look at ITV, a lot were rehashed from mediocre US sitcoms.
I love Fawlty Towers my favourite US sitcom is Coach despite it did jump the shark and I dont like gridiron.
I have binged on both Steptoe and Son and Sanford and Son. Neither version pulled no punches.

The Jeffersons still raises a smile when I watch it on DVD. The show was weekly TV for me also when I was in America.
