Thanks for confirming that about the SOAR Twitter account, hedda.
There doesn't seem to be a central directory of non-profits in the USA, but this one claims to be the most comprehensive:
www.guidestar.org/NonprofitDirectory.aspx
Australian charities register: www.acnc.gov.au/charity/charities
SOAR says on its website "SOAR (formerly Victims Refuse Silence) incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2015". Though SOAR doesn't appear on either website, "Victims Refuse Silence" does appear on the first one, with gross receipts and assets given as $0. |

SOAR does have a Twitter account mobile.twitter.com/speakoutactrclm and last tweeted in June. Am unable to scroll down to see if any tweets refer to SOAR activity, as am not on Twitter and a window always appears asking you to sign up to read more.
twitter feed just links to tabloid tales.
the whole thing looks like a front and a sham. More digging needs to be done to see if it's a registered charity etc. |

There has been no activity on Virginia Roberts Giuffre's Twitter account since around the time the settlement from Prince Andrew was announced.

15 February 2022: Prince Andrew settles Virginia Giuffre sexual assault case in US
Her last tweet was on 19 February 2022:
The suicide of Jean-Luc Brunel, who abused me and countless girls and young women, ends another chapter. I’m disappointed that I wasn’t able to face him in a final trial to hold him accountable, but gratified that I was able to testify in person last year to keep him in prison.
Googling the name of her non-profit, named on her Twitter account, "Speak Out, Act, Reclaim (SOAR)", over the past year, produces nothing of note other than its own website and references to it in articles about Prince Andrew and his settlement, etc.
No reports about any of the following activities, referred to on its website ("About Us" section under "Our work"):
Building on Giuffre’s work, SOAR provides a safe and empowering space for survivors of sex trafficking to reclaim their stories and stand up for themselves and survivors everywhere.
Through media appearances, speaking engagements, and public education campaigns, SOAR raises awareness and ensures that the voices of survivors are featured in the fight to end sex trafficking.
SOAR tackles the policies and procedures that prevent more survivors from coming forward by partnering with legal teams to provide compelling testimony—from statutes of limitations to how victims are treated in the criminal justice and court systems.
On the same page, under "Our story" it says:
Speak Out, Act, Reclaim (SOAR) officially launched in November of 2021. At this early stage, we are not yet accepting donations.
Under "Get Involved", it says:
Coming Soon
Under "Get the Facts" and "News stories" there's nothing more recent than stories about VRG suing Prince Andrew. There appear to be other stories, on the subject of sex trafficking and not related to VRG, but weirdly, if you click on them you're taken to a news article about VRG suing Prince Andrew.
The only thing of substance on the website seems to be under "Need Help?", where it gives contact details of the National Human Trafficking Hotline.
So what is "SOAR" actually doing? Is it anything more than a front to give the impression that VRG is campaigning against sex trafficking? |
