But that is of course because I am a Liberal wishy-washy elitist communist ... 
I lived in NYC for 2 years and loved it..visited many times (even met JK there but he wouldn't remember ).
Went on a Greyhound Bus from NYC to LA at age 19..what a way to see the glorious USA but Texas terrified me  (only met lovely Texans since  ).
I love Texas, I didn't like NYC or NY but I had a good job and my daughters live are born and bred there. I hate L.A also the West Coast in general TBH.
I love Texas, countryside of Vermont, the people in Alabama and driving is smooth there, the landscapes of Arizona, Alaska for the cabins, Rockies of Colorado and the beauty and the grizzly bears of Idaho.
Hopefully Wyot, might feed me to the bears when I am dead my skull and crossbones on a mantle or use as a desk tidy. |

I think you are correct about the limited real power and influence (lack of) modern leaders have in this global world; but underestimate (or perhaps don't give it as much weight as I do) the damage done to society by coarse, nasty, divisive vulgarians like Trump.
That sort of rhetoric just leads to violence and division. So anyone who doesn't act like that (yes GM even a dozy Joe Biden!) is my preference.
