Just had a very pleasant drink with a young Scotsman. He has recently finished his apprenticeships as brickie and plasterer. I over heard his conversation but made small talk at the bar before joining him for a drink.

He has saved everything and his parents only paid for the plane ticket to move to Slovenia to work. It's a country I know quite well, my sister and her husband have a house there.

I asked why he was moving? He said the the whole of the UK is a fucking joke, Scotland is now a ghetto and expensive shithole.

I asked about the language barrier he said he did courses at a community college and did German for GCSE. German is spoken in Slovenia a lot also. I was impressed he know that, he did his homework. He has dropped his North Ayrshire accent and dialect also.

So in theory he will only need the Slovene basics and he will meet people who have been taught English or German.

He found the job he is going to by simply cold-calling companies and sending off resumes to firms in Slovenia. He had the interview last week in person and starts in 2 weeks.

I have always said to young people leave the UK, if they tech savvy they can work any where in the world cheaply and in beautiful locations and you have got only one life.
