JK2006 LATEST - IRAN is the "enemy" Khalife was accused of gathering information for. Is IRAN an enemy? I had no idea. I still think of it as Persia.
JK2006 Notice both the UK and the USA escapees are called Daniel. God's sense of humour?
JK2006 I know nothing about Khalife's case but suspect he did not have a decent lawyer prepared to argue against remand. That as a 21 year old he did not know how to defend himself against police and CPS. That police and CPS were well aware of how to use the word TERRORIST to obtain extreme results from both Judges and Media. That the system is broken - particularly for the vulnerable. Not that money helps. My first trial cost me £1 million to a QC and Solicitor. I got convicted and was given 7 years in prison for crimes that never took place. In 2018, with no money, I had to go Legal Aid but had far better legal representation. And was acquitted and any retrials refused and banned.

Because I learned how to deal with the broken system. And found a good lawyer (who represented a fellow inmate and had got him released).
Wyot As I have children and could do without armed Police descending on my home, I would give him some food and water and point him in the direction of the nearest church...

Ironically, one of the reasons someone gets remanded is if they are a flight risk! I have no idea about the details of this case, but agree totally that terror legislation has/is being abused. It was always a catch all after our knee-jerk reactions to 9-11.
JK2006 Let me be clear. I'm not advocating breaking the law. But I am suggesting that police, courts and media need reminding of the Presumption of Innocence and should NOT only be trying to get suspects convicted just because it's easier to do than to prove their innocence.
