Jo Maybe the bands felt they had to come up with a reason for bouncing around with Jimmy Savile on Top of the Pops. They could have said they didn't hear rumours or did but didn't take them seriously, but maybe they were scared of repercussions, like being accused themselves, if they did.

Rubbish There were no connections that would make people think someone was allowed to go round raping children whenever he felt like it.

If nobody said anything, it is because there was nothing to tell.

And, IF someone decides to leave children to be hurt because they are afraid of so-called connections, they should be locked up.

I think GM was alluding to the long standing rumours that Savile had "gangland" connections from his club days, and was not beyond having people hurt.

(Not that I am convinced the post was from Honey as it seems a tad rude for her; but may be wrong - we all have off days...)

It was indeed me, and the rudeness
was not aimed at GM, just those claiming to have seen it all, known it all, yet did nothing at all.

Lord Wyot, you are correct and understand my meaning.

I had no strong feelings either way; watched episode one but can't be bothered with the rest.

I watched it on iplayer. It really was a waste of time and a chore to sit through. Nothing new came out, I am not sure if Steve Coogan has done career suicide or he will win an award for it. The acting is bad, script is sloppy. I have no idea why ITV made it and sold it to the BBC.

I did see Steve Coogan live once it was very bland show, it got good when he did Alan Partridge but it wasn't a long skit. I still remember the man a few seats near me reading the programme during the show.

I saw a few live bands in 2012 who said they knew about Savile but were scared of him due to his connections.
