The thing is there no deterrent in the UK. We are not allowed to be like characters in the films.
Robert Ginty - The Exterminator or Fred Williamson - Vigilante, can we?
Does this sort of thing lead to less crime, a less violent society? If we are not interested in outcomes what is that stuff all about? I get that it makes people feel good and gives an illusion of control....
Just like - on a national scale - the Israelis provide short-term to their citizens by hitting back like an exocet Charles Bronson in Gaza.
But it just makes everyone less safe longer term.
When the Guardian Angels patrolled the subways and certain hoods. Crime did go down.
If the laws changed we could be Bernie Goetz.
The police don't prevent crime they collect evidence for a court trail. Even the judge, will pass a soft sentence due to overcrowding, or he might go weak at the knees if a lady flutters her eyes in the dock.
when I lived in NYC I loved seeing the Guardian Angels.
These days there would be a political uproar over them and they'd be on charges.

Show me a victimless crime Wyot, I can wait.
Not sure why you are asking me this one GM as I never said there was a victimless crime, or implied it.
It is precisely because of the harm it causes that it is important that Police are able to get back to trying to prevent crime rather than just reacting to some of it in proportion to political direction.
