I have looked at Pogues tour archive, they toured heck off a lot in USA. I don't think Pogues were meant or aimed to be mainstream. Look at the artists from STIFF Records, well known bands and singers but most were not mainstream but got some radio play or very little.

JK2006 WOW! That performance by Glen and Lisa of Fairytale of New York was one of the finest musical moments of all time. Shane will be smiling.
JK2006 I was never that into The Pogues though I loved FairyTale - the best Christmas song ever after my Riding A Reindeer. But he was a great original. I cannot understand addiction, be it to drink, drugs or sex or religion or to another human being. But I tolerate it.
